The Aalim Course

This program is designed to allow a child to study the revealed sciences in the traditional method. A prefered age to start this course is the age of 13. As a requisite, it is important to be able to thoroughly recite the Quran with correct Tajweed in order to get admission into this beatiful program. This program is a course of 7 years in which a child will be able to attain expertise into Islamic subjects and ultimately it will make him an Islamic scholar inshaAllah.

Topics covered in this program:

1. Arabic Language:

An intense study of the Arabic language is covered in which a child will gain expertise into Arabic literature. Starting from basic Arabic grammer in English towards the Alfiyya of Ibn Malik. In literature and poetry, starting form Qasas of Sheikh Abul Hasan Nadwi to the Mukhtaaraat and ultimately into the Quran and Hadith.

2. Islamic Jurisprudence and Principles of Islamic Law:

In order to have a deep understanding of Quran and Sunnah, one will have to flip the pages of Fiqh and Usool Fiqh. Basically starting from Imam Qudoory’s Mukhtasar and then diving into Kanz of Nasafi, a student will finally be able to understand and grasp the intellectual discussions of Al Hidaya of Imamul Fuqaha Allama Margheenany. In order to attain the tools of the Fuqahaa, a student will be required to have an intense study of the Usool Fiqh. Starting from Usool As Shashi onwards, a student will be able to witness the amazing reasonings and theories of Mulla Jeewan in Noorul Anwar and Taftaazaany in Talweeh. Fiqh and Usool Fiqh are two of the most important subjects dealing with a students academic background in terms of being a Muslim scholar. It will also enable a child to think academically and sharpen a childs comprehending capabilities.

3. Aqeeda and Fundamentals (Beliefs):

In order to have strong grounds in monotheism and to be able to refute and radicate all types of polytheist beliefs and rationals, a student of Ilm will firstly need to deeply ponder and study the Aqeeda of Imam At Tahawi. After grasping upon the ground level discussion from within this beautiful text, the Hashiya of Imam Bayjoori upon Jawharat At Tawheed of Imam Al Laqqaany is an essencial tool to go further into the matters of Aqeeda. Thereupon a student will be able to ponder over the logical arguments of Taftaazaany’s Haashiya on Al Aqaaid of Mufti Thaqalain Imam An Nasafi.

4. Tafseer and Usool Tafseer:

It is obviously the desire of every single Muslim to learn and understand the love letter sent from his/her creator via the two most truthful servants of Allah, Jabreel Ameen and Muhammad Mustafaa Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam. However, in the Madrasa, our student is not only tought the apparent meaning of the Quran. Rather, he will be intensely studying the core of the Noble Quran along with such equipments that will allow him to make Tafseer of the Quran for the public in Masjids. In the beginning, a course of 2-3 years, the instructor will discuss each Aayah with the students including the place and reason for its revelation, all related Ahkaam, the opinions of the Sahaba and Tabieen Mufassireen etc. This course is so effective that along with an enhancement in the student’s Arabic abilities, a student will also be equipped to do intense research in the numerous books of Tafseers written since the beginning. It will also allow a student to have a deep understanding of the temperament of the Shariah of Allah. Thereafter, Tafseerul Jalaalain of Al Imamain Al Mahally and As Suyuti will enlighten a students memory and sharpen his capabilities of Tafseer with much more capacity. As a tool to this science, Uloomul Quran of Sheikh Taqi Uthmany will be studied along with Al Fawzul Kabeer of Waliullah Ad Dahlawi and At Tibyaan of Sheikh As Saaboony. Ultimately, a deep study will be done between the teacher and the student of Al Itqaan of Imam As Suyooty. This study will deeply enhance a student’s research ability to the max.

5. Hadith and Usool Hadith:

The sayings and traditions of the Noble Messenger is understood to be the demonstrating explanations of the Aayaat of the Quran. In order to bring the Noble traits of the Noble Messenger of Allah in a students day to day life and to beautify a students outer appearance with Nabawi characters, Riyaadhus Saliheen will serve as an essential tool in an entry level. Thereafter, Khateeb Tabreezy’s Mishkaatul Masaabeeh will serve as an introduction towards the books of Hadith. In the final year of a student’s journey of Ilm, a student will get the opportunity to study the six books of Hadith including the Muwattah of Imam Malik and Sharh Ma’aanil Aathaar of At Tahawi under the tutelage of authoritative traditional Jurists and Muhadditheen. Along with understanding the texts of the Ahaadeeth, it is also essential for a student to understand the science of quallifying and/or disqualifying a narrator of Hadeeth. To start with, Taqreebul Irshaad of Imam An Nawawi will shed light upon the Anwaa’ of Ilmul Mustalah in a very easy manner. Thereafter, it will be an easier task to grasp upon the Muqaddima of Abu Amr Ibn As Salah which is an essential tool in this regard along with Hafidh Ibn Hajar’s Sharh Nukhbatul Fikr as side notes. This will allow the student to annalyze the strength of a Hadeeth. However, a student will not be taught to be oblivious or to show a blind eye to the efforts of the early Muhadditheen and Jurists and their rulings with regards a Hadith.

6. Mahfoodhaat and Memorization of Texts:

It is an old custom of our predecessors that they would have numerous books in numerous subjects kept in memory. It eases the process of encompassing and coprehending the major subjects dealing with a scholar of Deen. Following are those books that will be taken into memory based on the capability and capacity of a student:

  • Alfiyya of Ibn Malik in Nahw
  • Alfiyya of Iraqi in Usul Hadith
  • Al Mukhtasar of Imam Qudoori in Fiqh
  • Al Manar of Hafizuddin An Nasafi in Usool Fiqh
  • Bulooghul Maraam of Hafidh Ibn Hajar or Riyadhus Saliheen of Imam Nawawi
  • Muqaddima of Imam Jazri in Tajweed
  • Al-Aqeeda At-Tahawiyyah of Imam Tahawi in Tawheed

7. Languages:

It is very important for a student to acquire expertise in 3 languages as an Islamic scholar in the west. The environment will be such within the Madrasa that a student will easily pick up Arabic, Urdu, English, three languages during his stay with us in this noble journey. There will be instructors only speaking in English whilst others only speaking Urdu and there will be others who will only speak Arabic.
